Courses Taken Elsewhere during Registration (UG)

Endorsement Before Study

During the regular terms (Fall and Spring), students who have course enrollments in HKUST and plan to take credit-bearing courses (online or in-person) from other institutions simultaneously, it is required to complete the Endorsement Form to seek for approval from the major departments or schools in advance if they are intended to apply for credit-transfer. Upon the completion of elsewhere study, the credits earned will therefore be allowed to apply for credit-transfer.

It is advised that the combined credit load (HKUST courses and outside courses) should not exceed their advised maximum for the relevant HKUST term based on the academic regulations of students' Major departments.

HKUST Organized Programs

Students participate in an exchange/visiting program (both physical and virtual) at local institutions or/and overseas universities organized by the University will see the exchange/study record in the online Credit Transfer Application System. You can simply use this official exchange/study record to raise new mapping requests and submit application for credit transfer.

You are strongly advised to check the Credit Transfer Database (For Institutional Courses) before initiating any applications.

Self-arranged Study

Students participate in self-arranged study at local institutions (both physical and virtual) should first create a study record (category: others) in the the online Credit Transfer Application System, and use this self-created study record to raise new mapping requests and submit application for credit transfer.

However, students who would like to participate in study from overseas universities (both physical and virtual), are required to register the study with the Office of Global Learning (OGL) (email: study.abroad@ust.hk). The study record created by OGL will then be brought forward to the online Credit Transfer Application System. Please wait to raise new mapping requests and submit application for credit transfer with this official study record.
