Class enrollment of most postgraduate students(1) is processed with the web-based Student Information System (SIS)(2). The main system functions include the following:
Students can view their own class timetable
Students can submit class choices, confirm their places or/and make changes before the add/drop deadline
In case of over-subscription of classes, they can be put on the system-automated waiting list for class space
In case students require special approval from the faculty member/academic department for enrollment, requests can be submitted through the system

(2) Registered students can access the SIS via "Student Intranet" at https://hkust.edu.hk/stu_intranet at any point that has access to the Internet.
