Stay healthy, sleep well, perform your best in the finals and resist temptation to cheat

ALL

Dear Students,

The study period has just started today! I trust that you will make good use of your time to prepare for the examinations and show your professors and yourself in the finals or projects what you have learned in this term. It is also an opportune time for me to stress the importance of upholding Academic Integrity.

Whether you are well-prepared or ill-prepared for the finals, any form of cheating should never be an option. The University is very serious about upholding academic integrity. “Excellence, Integrity, and Academic Freedom” is listed first among the 5 Core Values of HKUST. All members of the University community, including faculty members, students and staffs, have the responsibility to help maintain the academic reputation of HKUST. As an educational institution, one of the objectives is to inculcate integrity in our graduates, enabling them to be responsible citizens and accountable leaders of the society. Hence, HKUST has zero tolerance to cheating and any student found compromising academic integrity will face severe penalties, including termination from study at HKUST.

Regulations governing academic integrity can be found here and more details for different groups of students are in:

Please remember to take proper rest in between your study. Also, alternating different subjects in your study schedule can improve the effectiveness of your study. If you feel stressed out, do make use of the resource available at https://counsel.ust.hk/ or reach out to our 24/7 HEARing helpline at 8208-2688, exclusively for all HKUST students.

Finally, stay healthy, sleep well and I wish you all putting up your best performance in your examinations.

Sincerely,

Roger Cheng
Associate Provost (Teaching & Learning)
