Guidance on Completing Your Online Program Registration

This page provides a brief overview of the Online Program Registration process for newly admitted students.

Detailed instructions, important deadlines, the student account activation link, and the Online Program Registration link will be provided separately in the email titled “HKUST: Invitation to Program Registration” issued by the Academic Registry.

 

Online Program Registration is a mandatory process for newly admitted students to confirm their enrollment at HKUST.

Through the Online Program Registration process, students will:

  • activate their HKUST student account;

  • complete the online registration form;

  • upload required identification documents and visa documents (if applicable);

  • complete tuition fee settlement procedures (if applicable).

Students must complete all required procedures by the deadline specified in the invitation email.

Overview of the Registration Process

After receiving the email “HKUST: Invitation to Program Registration”, students will generally complete the following steps:

1. Activate HKUST Student Account

The activation link of your HKUST Account will be included in the Invitation and sent to your registered personal email.

The account provides access to University systems and services, including:

  • Online Program Registration System

  • Student Information System (SIS)

  • HKUST email services

2. Complete the Online Registration Form

Once your account is activated:

  • Log in to the Online Program Registration System
  • verify your personal particulars; Update any incorrect or outdated information
  • Provide or update your contact details and emergency contact information
  • Read the Personal Information Collection Statement (PICS) and give your consent
3. Upload Required Documents

Upload your personal identification documents and, if applicable, your visa documents through the Online Program Registration System. Documents marked compulsory must be uploaded on or before the registration deadline. Make sure you uploaded documents are clear and valid.

Local students of Undergraduate Degree programs (except JUPAS entry) should alert the tuition payment deadline, settle the tuition and upload the payment receipt for validation.

4. Upload Your Photo for the HKUST Card (Student Card)

To prepare your HKUST Card in advance:

Upload your photo before arriving on campus. Ensure your photo meets the required specifications.

 

Registration Status and Acknowledgement

You can check your registration status after 5 working days of your submission through the system:

The system status will change from “In Progress” to “Completed” once all required steps have been verified and finalized by the Academic Registry.

You will receive an email “Acknowledgement of Program Registration to the University” sent to both your HKUST and personal email account.

If you have completed all compulsory steps by the deadline but still need to submit supplementary documents, your status will be shown as “Incomplete”. In this case, you will still be considered registered, and you will receive a follow-up email titled “Follow-up Action: Program Registration to the University”. You should provide the supplementary documents as soon as it is available.

 

Important Notes

Your registration will be withdrawn if you fail to complete all required procedures and settle the prescribed fees by the stipulated deadline.
